LifeWays is an organization that manages the behavioral health treatment and services for Jackson and Hillsdale County residents who meet requirements for eligibility. LifeWays does not directly provide treatment and services. Rather, LifeWays function is to contract with private companies and individuals who do.  The services we manage are provided by the Lifeways Provider Network – a group of more than 70 local private practices and professionals – ensuring convenient 24-hour access to a full spectrum of behavioral health care for eligible residents of Jackson and Hillsdale counties.
 
LifeWays manages allocated state and county resources to ensure quality behavioral healthcare. We rely on our partnership with the community for input and direction and value open communication with all of our stakeholders. Our staff includes 50 clinical and administrative professionals dedicated to helping improve the behavioral health status of the community.

Who is Eligible for Services in LifeWays Network?

In general, we manage services for Medicaid recipients or uninsured individuals in Jackson & Hillsdale counties with:

- Serious mental illness (adults)
- Serious emotional disturbance (children)
- Developmental disability (adults/children)
- Substance abuse - Medicaid only

Every service offered through the Lifeways Provider Network has specific eligibility criteria, which are defined in the LifeWays Provider Manual. Every Consumer is individually assessed, initially through Community Connections, and at least annually by their primary Treating Provider thereafter.  From these assessments, levels of care, types of services and anticipated lengths of stay / intensity of service are determined and authorized accordingly.  
 
 
LifeWays is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilites (CARF).
